Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts Beaver Scouts are our youngest members, with a core age of 6-8 years.
Beavers enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, caring about and exploring their local community, playing games, learning about themselves, investigating the natural and man-made worlds, going on visits and experiencing the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover or Camp with their friends.
Our varied programme is based around the 6 Challenge Badges that Beaver Scouts can gain by attending the weekly meetings:
- My Adventure Challenge Award
- My Outdoor Challenge Award
- My Skills Challenge Award
- My World Challenge Award
- Personal Challenge Award
- Teamwork Challenge Award
Sometimes we work towards Activity Badges and Staged Activity Badges during Colony meetings, but Beavers can also work towards these badges in their own time.Beaver Scouts who achieve all the Challenge Badges, along with 4 activity or staged activity badges, will receive the highest award – the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award.
There is no such thing as a typical Beaver Scout meeting but our Chief Scout, Bear Grylls,
says that life is about grabbing opportunities!
We agree and above everything else, Beaver Scouting is all about enjoying yourself and having fun with your friends discovering new challenges and adventures.
